Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Lt. John Wilson's quarters - COUNS - ACMO Dr. Michaella Kirien- 1257) Michaella watched Harrison place the hypospray on the table. SHe breathed a sigh of relief when it was gone. "May I sit here?" He asked, very carefully. Michaella nodded. MIchaella nodded in approval as he sat down at her eye level. This one had apparently paid attention in his counselling classes. "If sedation isn't an option," he said, "Would you like to talk about it? Or would you prefer to release your anger on something or someone? I'm quite used to being verbally abused." "If you were a telepath, you could help me." She said, quietly. "But you aren't, and talking will not do anything to help me. The bond was broken unexpectedly, and as such, I'm left broken. None of the other telepaths on board are good enough to fix it. Except perhaps, Saleke... but what does he know about Betazoid bonds?" She finished, drawing her knees up closer to her chin. "The girls will be going through an abbreviated version of it... But they should heal in time. Ella will, but Beth might not. She was close to John, much closer than Ella was. Until someone fixes the bond, I won't be able to heal. I'll be... crippled like this." She could see the non-comprehension on his face. "It's like..having half your soul torn away, there is a big hole where John is supposed to be. And the hole will not heal on it's own. I went through a smaller version of this on Geneva, when John left me and the bond was stretched too far." She hid her eyes, and Harrison could barely make out, "If he hadn't made love to me it wouldn't be this bad." (reply Harrison) (posted by melinda :-) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Lt. She hid her eyes, and Harrison could barely make out, "If he hadn't made love to me it wouldn't be this bad." Harrison sighed with a mixture of sympathy for her and despair for himself. There truly was nothing that he could do. He was beginning to understand more about Betazoid bonds, yet the more he understood, the less he could help. "I'm am certain that Lt. Saleke will be approached about this," he said, "and I am confident that he will be able to help you. I am truly sorry for what has happened, and i'm even more sorry that I cannot help you." His thoughts turned to Dr. Kirien's daughters. In the turmoil of the battle, he had fogotten them. He doubted that there was anything he could do for them, but he could at least offer. "Would you like me to discuss this with Beth and Ella?" he asked. (reply Kirien) He looked at the hypospray sitting on the table. It probably wouldn't be necessary now, though no doubt Dr Kincaid would still have wanted to use it. The counsellor decided to leave it for now and discuss it with the Doctor later. He sat in silence for a while, allowing Dr. Kirien some time with her thoughts, while he roamed with his. He felt...defeat. He desperately wanted to help this woman, but there was nothing he could do, aside from offering comforting, friendly conversation. He was aware that Doctor Kincaid had detected a serious issue with her mental state that the hypospray should be able to help. "I realise that you believe sedation is not the answer," he ventured, "but Doctor Kincaid is very concerned for your health. If you don't listen to him, it may reach the stage where even Lt. Saleke can't help you. Will you reconsider this later?" (reply Kirien) (posted by James Batchelor) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Lt. John Wilson's quarters - ACMO - Dr. Michaella Kirien - 1302) "Would you like me to discuss this with Beth and Ella?" he asked. Michaella realized that Harrison was offering her a way out. She nodded, hopeful. She didn't want to have to face her daughters. After he'd promised to do so, she and he sat in the dark, silent for a while. She was so tired. "I realise that you believe sedation is not the answer," he ventured, "but Doctor Kincaid is very concerned for your health. If you don't listen to him, it may reach the stage where even Lt. Saleke can't help you. Will you reconsider this later?" "Perhaps. I am a Doctor as well, and I think I know a bit more about my body than Kinkaid does. He does not understand that the neural activity is entirely normal for a Betazoid going through this. It is a red flag for another telepath to come and help. We should bring Saleke back tomorrow and if he is willing, we will work together." She sighed sadly, the golden chain falling through her fingers, like a small waterfall. "Or you can tell Devan to goto Betazed or Vulcan, but I doubt that we are welcome there." She realized that she was being a bit of a smartass, but didn't care that much. Michaella's normal personality had a very acidic wit to it, something that most people either appreciated or did not. There were seldom people in the middle. "Once the bond is fixed, I promise that I will come and we will talk the grief out. I promise to be a good girl." It was a promise that Michaella had made to her parents, then to John, then to the man she had betrayed for Starfleet, again to John, and finally was making to this man. It was a promise she had made her daughters make. Right now, she didn't quite get what a good girl was supposed to be, though. "Perhaps," she replied, "I am a Doctor as well, and I think I know a bit more about my body than Kinkaid does. "Or you can tell Devan to goto Betazed or Vulcan, but I doubt that we are welcome there." Harrison managed to stiffle a snigger at her sarcasm. Her mood was improving. "Once the bond is fixed, I promise that I will come and we will talk the grief out. I promise to be a good girl." He smiled. "I'll hold you to that," he said kindly, "I'll check with the doctor, but i imagine he has already spoken to the captain about bringing Saleke in. I'm certain he'll want to help." They sat in silence for a while, before Harrison interrupted her thoughts by standing up. "Are you going to be okay here?" he asked. He felt guilty about leaving her here alone, but there really was little he could do for her at this stage. He had to see the rest of the officers as well, and he wanted to get as much done as possible before the Captain called a staff meeting. (reply Kirien) He smiled at her once more. "If you need me, I'm only a comm badge away. And my door's always open." (reply Kirien) (posted by James Batchelor) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Main Engineering - Ensign Miles O'Neill - 1235)   "Ummm... Ensign O'Neill? Can I show you something." "I'm pretty busy here, is it important?" Miles said. The one thing on his mind was fixing that sensor array, so he can get fixing on something else, and ultimately getting some much-needed rest.   "I think this maybe a little important," she urged him. Miles followed her over the monitor she had been looking at. "It's something to do with the sensor array." She showed him the readout and watched his interest grow. It appeared that a goodly portion of the array was missing. This might take a little more time than they thought.  "Um... do you think the others can handle that panel. You and I can go down and make repairs on the array. I've been cleared for EVA, but I'm not so sure about Johnson. However, it looks like we may need to do some work outside of the ship." "Yeah, they can handle that panel. I'll have to inform the captain about this plan, you ask Johnson if he's been cleared for EVA, okay?" (Reply Weston) Miles tapped his comm badge, "O'Neill to Sash. Sir, to further repair the sensor array, I need to go EVA. Ms. Weston is going with me, along with Mr. Johnson, if he's been cleared, which Ms. Weston is checking out now. Is this plan to your approval?" (Reply Sash) (Reply Weston, Sash, any) (Posted by Matt Kirk) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Archimedes- Lateral sensor repair crawlway-  Lt. Saleke (jg) - 2102)     =^= Very well, but if things get any worse for you, I want you back here immediately.  I will trust to your judgement, meanwhile." The Captain paused for a moment then continued. "I will be having a staff meeting tomorrow morning at 1000 hours.  Please be sure that Commander Troi is kept up to date on the situation over there. You will have command while she is over here.  Get rested up Lt. We've gotten through this challenge, but I fear that our trials may not yet be over with this shipment. Sash out. =^=   "Understood Captain." Saleke said as he signed off. The Vulcan sat there for a moment on his knees considering the Captain's words, judging from what he had said things appeared to be getting no better but might actually grow worse. Their situation at the moment was serious with the Nimitz crippled by her battle with the Alamo; if she had gotten off a message to Star Fleet... It was imperative they get the ships repaired and back to the subspace river as quickly as possible. Pure logic would indicate the best alternative would be to send the Archimedes on to get the shipment to Geneva as quickly as possible but they would run the risk of meeting a more heavily armed ship.   As escort the Nimitz would be a match for anything they encountered but only if it had undergone extensive repairs and meanwhile was slowing them down. Still the first path would be the more logical... but it would necessitate leaving their shipmates at the mercy of whatever ship might try to intercept them. The Vulcan shook his head at the quandry; Command decisions at times necessitated abandoning the greater good for the good of the ship and Saleke made careful note of the paradox, it might be necessary at some time in the future to remember such an important lesson.        (USS Archimedes- Lateral sensor repair crawlway-  Lt. Saleke (jg) - 2123) Having liberated the necessary components from stores Saleke used a magnetic wrench to first interupt power to the sensors then bled off the residual energy. The same wrench allowed him to remove the cover of the sensor relays and he saw that they were indeed a blackish brown, fused by the backlash of power during the battle. He began removing them one by one and replacing them with new components. He looked at the time and nodded, after they were replaced he would have to align them with the technicians diagnostic tool he carried which would take the most time, there would be opportunity enough for rest later.   (Reply: Any, none)   (Posted by Charles) Stardate:2406.10.06 (USS Nimitz - Counsellor's office - COUNS - Ensign John Harrison - 2117) Harrison was still typing up the day's reports and thinking about what he would put in today's log when the message came through. "There will be a staff meeting tomorrow at 1000 hours in the conferance room. Have all updated reports and repair schedules ready and be prepared to give estimates to completion. Sash out." He tapped his comm badge. "Harrison to Captain Sash," he said, "Understood, sir. See you in the morning!" He didn't know why he was in good spirits. Perhaps because the battle seemed like days ago, rather than hours. Perhaps because he felt that he'd actually been pretty damn useful today, both in his struggles with the OPS station and his talks with various crew members. He concentrated on his reports, determined to finish them within the hour so he could get some shut-eye. (reply Sash i.y.w) (posted by james batchelor)
